KOM Sports To Launch S.K.Y. Streetball Syndicate

May 18, 2009 - KOM Sports Marketing has been announced as the marketing agency for S.K.Y. Streetball Syndicate, a new and innovative brand promoting some of the world's top playground basketball players.

S.K.Y., an acronym for (S)erving (K)nowledge to (Y)outh, is a brand that was conceived by KOM Sports Marketing President Steve Brunner and Lee Greene of Bermuda with several of the top players. The goal is to use basketball as a means to communicate the brand and its mission.  S.K.Y. Streetball Syndicate launches May 22-24, 2009, with its first Tour through Omaha, St. Joseph, and Kansas City.

For a preview of S.K.Y. Streetball Synidcate, go to www.skynolimit.net.

"It's an exciting project with a lot of promise," said Brunner. "This started as an idea and has blossomed into a strong mission and cause-related platform involving some real good athletes and a great group of guys. We're proud of the brand and marketing work KOM Sports has done to date. And, we realize we have a long way to go to hit our goal with the program."

KOM created and developed the brand campaign (see below), the merchandise and marketing plans, and was instrumental in working with Greene on business, sponsorship, and operational plans.

The marketing plan includes a youth component which ties programs together on line through SKYexcel, www.skynolimit.net/skyexcel. At games, a motivational poster (see sample below, left) will be provided to all kid's attending the games.

The ultimate goal, adds Brunner, is to reach kids and influence them in a host of mediums, including at games, camps and clinics, educational programs (printed and on-line).

"We've been careful to build something different with the ultimate result on affecting the mission," said Greene. "The one thing this group shares is a passion for basketball and well as postively altering the lives of youth. We've taken a walk-before-you run mentality with the goal being a long-term sustainable model."

S.K.Y. Streetball Syndicate has already scheduled trips to Chile, Russia and China for later in the year with stops to be scheduled throughout the United States in the 2009 calendar year.

“Steve Brunner and KOM have done an amazing job of helping get the Tour of Missouri to the upper echelon of professional cycling.  Without their creative marketing and sponsorship solutions we could not put on a world class event that allows us to showcase Missouri to the rest of the world.”
